The Shanghai World Expo Ship Pavilion Project is a landmark exhibition facility developed for the Shanghai World Expo 2010, designed to showcase maritime culture, shipbuilding technology, and ocean-related innovation. Located in Shanghai, the pavilion served as one of the thematic exhibition spaces within the Expo site, attracting large volumes of visitors and playing an important role in presenting industrial and cultural achievements on a global stage.
The project features a distinctive ship-inspired architectural design, combining exhibition halls, multimedia display areas, interactive experience zones, visitor circulation spaces, and supporting service facilities. The overall layout emphasizes experiential storytelling and high visitor flow efficiency, allowing large-scale exhibitions to operate smoothly while maintaining comfort and safety standards. As a temporary yet high-intensity public building, it required strong adaptability, fast construction efficiency, and reliable structural performance during continuous operation.
To meet these requirements, high-performance building envelope and insulation solutions were applied in key systems such as roofing structures, exterior wall assemblies, and temporary enclosure systems. These materials helped improve indoor environmental stability, reduce energy consumption for climate control, and ensure comfortable conditions for both exhibitions and visitors throughout the operation period.
In addition, these solutions provided strong resistance to weather exposure, humidity, and short-to-medium term structural aging, ensuring stable performance under high visitor density and intensive event schedules. By integrating innovative architectural design with reliable building performance systems, the project supported the successful operation of the Expo pavilion and contributed to the overall success of the Shanghai World Expo.
